Greece must avoid returning to the policies espoused by main opposition New Democracy and its leader, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Digital Policy, Communications and Media Minister Nikos Pappas said on Monday, talking to News 24/7 radio.
“Our country has recent experience of the policies that Mr. Mitsotakis and his circle represent. They are extreme and repellent policies. They are a great danger for our society that we must avert,” said Pappas.
Commenting the result of the local administration elections in Greece, he said that there had been no dramatic change in the distribution of regions and municipalites won by each party and that SYRIZA had not suffered a strategic defeat.
He underlined, however, that SYRIZA’s goal is to win in the parliamentary elections as “the general elections are a completely different vote” from the European elections.
Pappas said that there was no change of plan concerning the date of the general elections and that media reports claiming the opposite “do not reflect reality”.
